Unity College recognises that this week is Reconciliation Week – a very important time in history for all Australians. Information has been circulated to staff and students in their Home Classes this week, where they have been able to discuss and recognise this event in 2018.
The following websites contain many items of interest and helpful information, www.reconciliation.org.au/nrw and www.narragunnawali.org.au Also, the hashtag for national reconciliation celebrations around Australia is #NRW2018
As hopefully most will know, Unity College is situated on Ngarrindjerri land. David Unaipon was also a Ngarrindjerri man is displayed on our $50 note. It’s a great time to recognise him again during this week. Mr Unaipon was an inventor and innovator and is most commonly known for his modified design of shearing shears. As he is a local man you may like to learn more about him here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Unaipon
