In Year 2, we have an abundance of learning experiences at our fingertips that engage us as learners both inside and outside the classroom. The special events that we participate in throughout Year 2 aim to inspire our students to be learners who take risks, who are caring and reflective.
Additional to the collaborative R-2 events we enjoy, the Year 2’s also engage in the:
- Mannum Dock Museum Excursion
- Sturt Reserve and Water Station Excursion
- Year 2 Sleep Over
- Year 2 Christmas Pageant Float
- Henny Penny Hatching Program
The last few weeks of Term 3 have been a great example of the myriad of opportunities our learners have as we have cared for baby chicks and been preparing for the excitement of our Year 2 Sleepover.
Henny Penny Hatching Program
We have had the privilege of caring for fifteen chicks over the last fortnight. We’ve watched the chicks hatch and when they were ready, we have helped transfer them to their pen. They have grown so quickly and there’s been lots of chatter, laughs and smiles as we’ve cared for, held and played with our fluffy friends.
Year 2 Sleepover
The excitement is building as we have been preparing for our Year 2 School Sleepover this week (Week 10). This is an annual event that the Year 2 students enjoy as a preparation for their first camp in Year 3. For this year, we are incorporating this special event with our current Unit of Inquiry on How the World Works. We will be spending the Friday of our sleepover participating in a ‘challenge day’. We will be investigating force and motion through physical challenges and games as well as working in teams as we develop our skills as communicators and risk-takers.
