In Design and Technology this Semester, Year 5 students have been developing their iMovie production skills to “Teach the Teachers” about a topic of their choice. Students planned and story boarded their production. This enabled the students to break down the task into smaller chunks and provided guidance on what needed to be filmed. They then took their iPads home to film the parts that were needed to create their iMovie. During the remaining lessons, students had to use their time wisely to construct their iMovie using the various tools in the app. The approach to this learning task required students to be “self-managed”.
Students also had to be effective communicators and decide how they would teach these new skills to their teachers. They used a combination of skills including oral presentation voice overs, text, photos, video clips and labelling.
Teach the Teacher topics included:
- How to check sheep and
- How to make Mum’s famous lasagna
The process and end results were very educational indeed. Well done Year 5s!
