Locksmith Apprenticeship
Lock around the clock Locksmiths (Mt Barker) are seeking an Apprentice.
A locksmith installs, maintains, fixes and opens locks, including safe locks, automotive and residential. They cut keys and change lock combinations and can also work in an advisory capacity with regards to security measures for residential, commercial and industrial properties. In emergencies, such as when customers are locked out of cars, homes or offices, locksmiths pick the locks if the keys are inside, or make duplicate keys if the keys are lost. The trade comprises some mechanical, electrical and carpentry components so is a good mix of all.
Locksmiths work with people and therefore require a positive, pleasant and supportive attitude towards them. This profession requires mechanical aptitude, good eye-hand co-ordination, meticulous accuracy, manual dexterity, patience and problem solving, the ability to concentrate well, work unsupervised, self-motivated and neat appearance of the person.

Certificate II in Construction Pathways
PEER is offering the Certificate II in Construction Pathways course in our purpose-built trade training centre at Port Road, Albert Park in 2023, available through our VET in Schools programs.
What Students Will Learn
This work-entry program will teach students the basic skills and knowledge to work safely in any of the primary trades in the building and construction industry.
Future Opportunities
The skills students will learn in this course will put them on the right path to becoming a carpenter, bricklayer, concreter etc.
Outcomes and Credits
Once you’ve completed all your Units of Competency, students will receive a CPC20220 Certificate II in Construction Pathways qualification. If not all Units of Competency are completed, a Statement of Attainment will be issued instead.
Entry Requirements
To complete this course, students should have a good understanding of both English and General Mathematics.
What They’ll Need
To look after the student’s safety, these items are compulsory; steel capped boots, 100% cotton long sleeve high-vis shirt (supplied by PEER), and long pants. No polyester blends are allowed.
Fees
Please contact PEER for more information on course fees. School students accessing subsidised VET course will need to undertake the VET Readiness Orientation (VETRO) process to meet eligibility requirements.

The course will be held one day a week every Thursday, from the start of term one 2023.

Mechanical Apprenticeship Opportunity – Shaun’s Mobile Mechanical (Mannum)
Shaun’s Mobile Mechanical is a fast-growing family business located in Mannum. We are seeking an eager individual to join our team and complete an apprenticeship in Light Vehicle Technology with the option to trade upgrade to Heavy Vehicle upon completion. You will have the opportunity to grow skills in a wide variety of areas through our fully equipped mechanical workshop as well our many contracts including RAA roadside assistance, fleet vehicle servicing, farm machinery maintenance and repairs, mining vehicles, 4wd accessories and 12v fit outs and truck and trailer repairs.
