Greetings, Unity College Community!
The first week of Term 2 has come to a close, and what an invigorating week it was! With our spirits rejuvenated after a well-deserved holiday, our committed staff and eager students have returned with renewed energy and enthusiasm.
Monday afternoon/evening saw Unity College stadium filled with discussions and exchanges during our Teacher, Parent & Student Conferences (R-12), with another session tonight. It was fantastic to witness the strong turnout of parents, a true testament to the commitment to your children’s educational journey. We extend our sincerest gratitude to each parent for their partnership in supporting our teachers and ensuring that every child reaches their fullest potential.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to Jeff and his team for organising Mother’s Day Breakfast for the Junior School this Friday. As we eagerly anticipate this special occasion, I am personally excited to have the opportunity to meet and connect with some of the wonderful mothers of our students. We acknowledge the invaluable role mothers play in shaping the lives of our young learners.
Reflecting on the past term, I had the privilege of accompanying Penny Fielke on a journey to escort our Areyonga students back home at the end of Term 1. This experience marked my first visit to Alice Springs, and despite encountering challenges posed by floods, our determination prevailed as we ensured the safe return of our students. This journey not only deepened my connection with our students but also underscored the resilience ingrained within our Unity students when facing challenges. With anticipation, we await the return of our Areyonga students next Monday, eager to welcome them back for the start of Term 2.
Looking ahead, this term spans nine weeks, with the final week designated as a Professional Development week for all staff. The program for this week has been meticulously crafted, promising a wealth of learning and collaborative opportunities. From workshops tailored for Years R-12 to a focus on staff wellbeing and spiritual enrichment, our Professional Development week aims to empower our staff and foster continuous growth.
Our Early Learning Centre is nearing completion, and we are thrilled to announce that our ELC staff have been appointed. Stay tuned for the official announcement of their names! We eagerly anticipate opening the doors of this exceptional facility, which will offer long day care and a Kindy program – another service provided for our Murraylands community by Unity College.
As I reflect on my first term here at Unity College, I am filled with gratitude for the warm welcome and sense of belonging I have experienced. The slogan “#YOUbelong” truly resonates, as I already feel deeply rooted within this wonderful community.
Thank you for your unwavering support and dedication to Unity College.
Spiritual Encouragement for the Day:
Have a blessed week
