In Year 8, each Maths lesson starts with clear instruction on a new concept, followed by practice problems and activities tailored to each student’s needs and previous learning. Students do most of their work in exercise books, which helps teachers see how well they understand the material. This approach makes it easy to spot when a child needs extra help with a particular topic, allowing for targeted support or interventions. Students who are working on similar skills are grouped together so the teacher can assist them more effectively.
We have found that FLEX is the best tool for helping students improve their maths skills. Thanks to this Maths Pathways program, many students have made incredible progress, mastering three years’ worth of math in just one year! This success comes from a combination of clear teaching, personalised practice, and engaging math activities that encourage problem-solving and teamwork.
Feedback from the students includes:
- I like how you do an entrance ticket to see if you already know this maths instead of it forcing you to do 30 minutes of something you already know.
- It’s a very helpful website that teaches you lots of different things while doing it strongly giving you the ability to retain this information and never forget about it later.
- Something good about Maths Pathways is everyone can work at their own pace and do their own work.
- The good things about Maths Pathways are that we can learn more maths in easy ways like watch video and reading the instructions and it is good because some questions are answered for you.
- It’s good because you can work on different types of maths in every module you finish and is efficient. you can choose different modules that you want to work on.
- I feel like it is very helpful in the way that you can do half what the rest of the class is doing, but then most of the time, you are learning exactly where you are up to. It is good in making sure that you know something by having entrance and exit tickets. It has multiple help options and I can almost guarantee that you have the opportunity to understand everything on there.
- It is a good way to get ahead of the rest of the class and if you are ever behind, all it takes is half an hour of homework and you are all caught up. It is a good website to know exactly what you need to work on and get help with.
